The Palermo Club

Step into the world of Club Canottieri Roggero di Lauria, a prestigious rowing and yacht club founded in 1902 in the heart of Palermo, Sicily. Named after the legendary 13th-century admiral Ruggiero di Lauria, who led Italy to numerous naval victories, this club boasts a rich heritage of courage and excellence on the water.

Founder Sophie’s connection to this iconic club began through her friend Salvatore, who, along with his father, has deep roots in its history. Salvatore’s father was destined to compete in the 1940 Olympics, a dream thwarted by WWII. Undeterred, he went on to coach Giovanni Falcone, the famed judge who bravely fought the Italian mafia. As a fellow rower, alongside her own Dad, Sophie found herself captivated by the club's storied past and its classic vintage logo.

Adding to its legacy, Francesco Bruni, the skipper of the Prada yacht in the 2024 America’s Cup, also hails from Club Canottieri Roggero di Lauria.
